Nothing can beat the excitement of sitting down in a darkened theater, enjoying a bucket full of popcorn, and a cold glass of something to sip, before being whisked off to another place. Have you ever wondered what happens behind the scenes at your local movie theatre? There are plenty of secrets and interesting facts that your theater employees don't necessarily want you to know. We'll be sharing some of these secrets with you and giving you a glimpse behind the scenes of the movie theater business.

Concessions make theaters more money than ticket sales

It's not uncommon to feel like you paid a fortune for small popcorn or soda at the theater. Concession sales make theaters a higher profit margin than ticket sales. This is why popcorn and other snacks can seem expensive. Theaters must make up the difference by selling tickets at lower margins.

Theater Employees Get to Watch Movies for Free

One of the perks of working at a movie theater is that employees get to watch movies for free. This can be a great benefit for movie-lovers who want to catch the latest releases without spending a lot of money. The catch is that employees have to wait after the theater has closed to watch the movie. They might not see it until a few weeks later.

Theaters Only Have a Short Window to Show New Releases

You may have wondered why movies seem to disappear so quickly after being released. Theaters have a limited window of opportunity to display new releases before the next big thing. If you want to catch a movie on the big screen, it is important that you see it in theaters.

Theaters often use the same movie reel for multiple screens.

A theater might receive only one movie reel when they get a new movie. That reel is then used to play the movie on multiple screens throughout the theater. This means that there is a high chance that the same movie is playing simultaneously in different theater rooms.

To show movies, the theaters must adhere to strict guidelines

In order to show movies in a movie theater, they must adhere to strict guidelines. For example, they can't start a movie before the scheduled start time, even if everyone is seated and ready to go. They also can't show previews for longer than a certain amount of time, and they have to stop selling tickets at a certain point before the movie starts.

Cleaning Theaters can be a difficult job

Ever wondered who picks up the trash and popcorn left over from a movie? It's the theater workers, and it is not an easy job. They need to be able to quickly clean up the theater in time for the next movie. It can be challenging to deal with customers who have left their trash everywhere. Don't forget to properly dispose of your rubbish!

Theaters can get very cold

If you have ever found yourself sitting in a movie theater and feeling cold, you aren't alone. To preserve the film and keep the equipment in good condition, theaters are kept extremely cold. If you are sensitive to cold, bring a jacket or sweater.

Movie Theaters Are Going Away

Movie theaters have struggled to keep up with streaming services like Netflix, Amazon Prime, and Amazon Prime. This trend is only growing. Many people prefer to watch movies at the home than go to the movie theater. Theaters are offering more luxurious experiences like recliner seats.

Movies are shown in theaters using projectors

While some newer theaters have switched to digital projectors, many older theaters still use traditional film projectors to show movies. These projectors use light for the projection of the film onto the screen. This creates the stunning images that you see on the big screen. Digital projectors, however, project the movie using a computer.

Theaters host special screenings and events

Theaters often offer screenings and special events, such as midnight screenings of movies that are popular or classic screenings. These events are a great way to meet movie-lovers and offer something new. Some theaters even offer live events, such as concerts or performances, in addition to movies.

Movie Theater Popcorn is a Unique Experience

Do you remember the unique smell and taste of movie theater popcorn? That's because it's usually popped in coconut oil and flavored with special seasonings. The combination of the oil and seasoning creates that classic movie theater popcorn taste.

Theaters Have to Deal with Movie Piracy

The movie industry is facing a lot of problems due to movie piracy. Theaters must take measures to stop it. Many theaters have security measures in order to prevent illegally recording the movie. This could include trained employees or night-vision goggles that look for suspicious behaviour.

Theaters make more money on opening weekends

Because they are the most profitable times for theaters, opening weekends are critical. Theaters will often show multiple screenings during the initial days of a new release. It's possible for a movie to fail its first weekend and be removed from the theaters quickly.

Movie Theaters Can Be Noisy

If you've ever been to a movie and been bothered by noisy patrons, you're not alone. Movie theaters can be noisy especially during busy showings. Theaters often offer special screenings for people with sensory problems. Introduction

Community-created Mi-24V cockpit

Enemy Engaged – Comanche vs. Hokum (EECH) is a combined forces realtime battlefield helicopter simulation.

The player pilots an attack helicopter inside a dynamic campaign. Instead of being confined to separate pre-defined "missions" like in so many other simulation games, it is possible to see the battle unfold across the entire battlefield in real time, without "load times" during missions. Your tasks in the game range from attack missions on enemy bases, FARPs and vehicles, close air support or interdiction of enemy air defences, recon-missions to obtain photographic intelligence, down to simple transfer missions to replenish your forces.

Effective air defence simulations necessitate NOE (Nap of the Earth) flying and the use of terrain as cover, as well as making best use of the stealth characteristics of the Comanche helicopter. A "Mission Commander" feature allows players to define their own missions and ultimately control the battle strategy from a powerful interactive game map that integrates seamlessly with the 3D action. The entire battlefield simulation is fully networked and supports multiple human pilots on either side of the simulated conflict.

There are 9 helicopters modelled in the game that are flyable with their own cockpits, and seven of those have 3D cockpits. On the Blue side, these are the AH-64A Apache, AH-64D Apache Longbow, the RAH-66 Comanche, the AH-1Z Viper, and the OH-58D Kiowa. On the Red side, these are the Ka-52 "Hokum B", the Ka-50 "Black Shark", the Mi-28N "Havoc", and the Mi-24V Hind. All other helicopters in the game are flyable, but they use a 'default' cockpit from the Apache A.

The game tries to be as realistic as possible, having features like the realistic engine startup procedure and the priority fire zones for example, while retaining the ease-of-use factor that makes it popular with players who are more interested in action than avionics. Support for innovative input devices like TrackIR allow for an optimal level of immersion. Combined with the truly massive environments that retain a realistic sense of scale.

Although the original game was released in 1999, the community has developed substantial graphics and gameplay-related enhancements, aside from stability and multiplayer improvements. The release of the game's source code ensured that an active fan community grew in size, turning EECH into it's current game.

You can have a look at some screenshots of the game in the gallery.
